Lao Cha Po or Old Tea Granny is the affectionate name farmers have given to the mature leaves of the tea plant. Although this version is aged (1997), the term “Lao / 老 ” is given to the tea due to the age of growth not because it is aged. These courser leaves are harvested, blanched, sundried, and finished by hanging or pressed, as this version is. The liquor is clear, copper in color, herbal taste, mellow and with sweetness. There is no bitterness it will brew many steepings.
