Burning charcoal can kill you. It produces carbon monoxide (CO), a colorless, odorless gas that can reach lethal levels in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.
We do not recommend using our charcoal products indoors.
Never burn charcoal inside homes, apartments, garages, vehicles, tents, campers, enclosed patios, or any other confined space. Opening a window or using a fan does not make indoor use safe. Official U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) guidance is to never burn charcoal indoors.
Intended use
Our charcoal is intended for outdoor use only, in open air with ample ventilation, such as a patio, courtyard, or other unenclosed outdoor area. Use only with appropriate equipment (e.g., a dedicated charcoal stove or brazier designed for tea or cooking) placed on a stable, non-combustible surface away from flammable materials.
Additional safety notes
• Keep burning charcoal and hot equipment away from children, pets, and combustible items (tablecloths, curtains, paper, dried plants, alcohol, etc.).
• Never leave burning charcoal unattended.
• Allow charcoal to extinguish and cool completely before moving or storing. Do not bring a grill or stove with live or recently used coals indoors.
• Do not use lighter fluid or chemical starters if the product is intended for tea (they can affect flavor and add extra hazard).
• Store unused charcoal in a cool, dry place.
